From the President

Dear members and friends of CEFT:

The Czech Educational Foundation of Texas (CEFT) has just recently celebrated its 55th year in existence. Founded in 1954 for the express purpose of supporting and preserving the Czech heritage in Texas through higher education, over the past 55 years, CEFT, with the generous support of members like you, has succeeded in establishing the Texas Chair in Czech Studies at the University of Texas at Austin, the CEFT William Hlavinka Fellowship at Texas A&M University in College Station, and most recently the CEFT Frank J. and Hermine Hurta Kostohryz Residency in Czech Music and Culture and the University of North Texas in Denton.

The CEFT Board of Directors is continuing its diligent oversight of these programs to help ensure that they continue to meet the high expectations of the organization. In addition, the Board is addressing the possibility of establishing additional programs at other institutes of higher learning throughout the state. Your support of CEFT is important in helping the Directors continue their work.

I would like to encourage you to continue your generous financial support of this organization by renewing your membership, if you have not done so already, and considering an additional donation. It is through your generous contributions that the rich Czech heritage of the state of Texas will be preserved at our institutes of higher learning.

Your comments and suggestions are most welcome. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time.

Sincerely,

Woody Smith
President, CEFT
